The Department of Physics at PCBAS, established in 2013, has developed a strong tradition of academic excellence and research innovation. The department offers a broad spectrum of programs, including undergraduate (B.Sc. / B.Sc. Hons.), postgraduate (M.Sc.), and Ph.D. programs in diverse areas of experimental and theoretical Physics.
- Undergraduate Programs: Six- and eight-semester B.Sc. / B.Sc. (Hons.) with an intake capacity of 60 students.
- Postgraduate Programs: Four-semester M.Sc. in Physics with an intake capacity of 30 students.
- Doctoral Programs: Research opportunities in frontier areas of Physics under the Ph.D. program.
The department has implemented the Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) and embraces the interdisciplinary and flexible learning framework envisioned by NEP-2020, allowing students to pursue holistic education with opportunities for research integration and skill development.
Faculty members are engaged in national-level collaborations and maintain strong research linkages with premier institutions such as TIFR Mumbai, BARC Mumbai, and IUCAA Pune. The department also boasts a well-resourced library with a wide range of reference books and journals, supporting both academic and research pursuits.
